OUR MONTHLY WINNERS

Every month we pick a random registered user who re-visited the site in the previous month and give them a $100 gift card. That's right, just by visiting us, and logging in, you too are eligible for our monthly prize drawing.

Cher Farnham, our October winner, teaches at Centennial Park School in Chateauguay, part of the New Frontiers School Board. After many years of teaching Grade Six, a Learning Center (enclosed class) opened at her school and she jumped at the chance to teach in that setting. Her response to that decision some four years later, “I haven’t hit the snooze button on my alarm since! Love the challenges and successes my students and I share.”

Cher is an outdoor enthusiast who feels most relaxed when she doesn’t have four walls around her. In normal times she often escapes to a certain lake in the Eastern Townships where she can be found following a path through the woods, swimming in the lake, or sitting on the deck (or by the fireplace, depending on the season) reading a good book.

Lisa Silver, our November winner, is an ELA teacher for Sec 2-3-4-5 students at Golden Valley School in Val-D’Or. She states, “I am passionate about creating readers and writers in my classroom as I am a prolific reader and amateur writer myself.” For fun, Lisa has always enjoyed gourmet cookery but during the Covid-19 shutdown she really stepped up her game, jumping on the sourdough bread trend. She enthusiastically says, “I have become a bit of an artisanal bread fairy, gifting my friends and colleagues with my efforts. So far so good, no complaints!”

Her other interests include social justice and politics, so she brings these connections to her classroom. Even though we might live in the Abitibi, I would still like my students to feel connected to the world and that they can make a difference. This is very much in keeping with the theme of the LCEEQ Annual Conference to be held in February 2021.

To support their love of reading, Cher and Lisa will each be able to make good use of their one-hundred-dollar gift card from Chapters Indigo which was won just by logging into their LCEEQ account. In the new year, resolve to visit your LCEEQ account frequently and maybe you, too, will be the lucky winner chosen at random in the months ahead.
