The LCEEQ has created a listing of the committees serving the English educational community as well as identifying the English-speaking representatives serving on central committees established by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS). This online resource will help identify the title, the mandate and the membership of the various committees influencing education in Quebec.

The Advisory Board on English Education (ABEE)

The mandate of the Advisory Board on English Education (ABEE) is to advise the Minister of Education on all matters affecting the educational services offered to English elementary and secondary schools. The Minister may also ask the Board for advice on a specific topic.

Synergy Committee

Established as a sub-committee of the Directors General table, the Synergy Committee brings together the Directors of Educational Services and ICT directors working in the English school boards. Through ongoing dialogue, the committee hopes to ensure a better integration of new technologies within the school curriculum.

Secretaries General Table for English School Boards

The main objective of the Secretaries General Table is networking with the other English school boards, providing support and sharing best practices. As most members also sit at the regional French tables and the Table des avocats on the Island of Montreal, everyone benefits from an overview of practices across the province. Participants also continue to network with the Chairs of all Secretary General tables in Québec.

Québec English School Boards Association (QESBA)

Purpose/Mandate: The purpose of the Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) is to advocate appropriate education for students in both the youth and adult sectors and to enhance the effectiveness of school commissioners and member school boards in the areas of education, finance, administration and labour relations. Because school commissioners and boards are valued clients, the prime focus of the Association is to fulfill the needs of school boards. In this perspective, we communicate, collaborate and cooperate with other educational organizations including the Ministry of Education.

Provincial Organization of Continuing Education Directors English (PROCEDE)

Purpose/Mandate: Procede’s mandate is to:

  • Act as a forum and consultative body for the nine English-language school boards
  • Provide policy orientation and strategy recommendations to the MELS and our boards
  • Oversee the development and delivery of adult general education and vocational training curricula and programming
  • Coordinate professional development activities for all personnel

Leadership Committee for English Education in Québec (LCEEQ)

Purpose/Mandate: The Leadership Committee for English Education in Québec – LCEEQ is a collaborative professional learning community established for the purpose of promoting educational leadership in response to the needs of the English educational community of Québec through:

a) exchange on information between the MEES and the community as represented by the LCEEQ;

b) identification of systemic challenges and conditions for student success;

c) short and long-term strategic planning to enhance and support:

    - student learning and effective pedagogical and andragogical practices,

    - professional development and delivery models appropriate to the English sector,

    - the availability of resources.

d) systematic review and revision of outcomes related to the LCEEQ Strategic Plan;

e) ongoing review of the purpose and processes of the LCEEQ.

Directors of English Education Network (DEEN)

Purpose/Mandate: The Directors of English Education Network (DEEN) will provide pedagogical leadership for the Quebec English public school system. The DEEN will address provincial pedagogical priorities for the English public school system by:

  • sharing expertise
  • supporting the development of resources
  • coordinating services
  • advising on pedagogical issues

    Purpose/Mandate: A sub-committee, established by formal written nomination from each school board to develop, plan and implement specific strategic actions arising from the priorities identified by DEEN. The MAD2 sub-committee develops annual objectives related to Music, Art, Drama and Dance in the following three focus areas:

    • Professional Development
    • Materials and Resources
    • Assessment and Evaluation

    Purpose/Mandate: A sub-committee, established by formal written nomination from each school board to develop, plan and implement specific strategic actions arising from the priorities identified by DEEN. The Social Studies sub-committee develops annual objectives related to History and Geography in the following three focus areas:

    • Assessment and Evaluation
