AAESQ and LCEEQ will collaborate in presenting a webinar with Me Bernier
Thursday January 11, 2024 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
Formerly, each School Board had a process to address complaints. A change in the law now has a new mechanism for handling such in the educational environment. One reason was to ensure that there was consistency across the different Boards/Service Centres and so the creation of the National Student Ombudsman.
Maitre Jean François Bernier is in charge of this new function, which is autonomous and external to the school network. He oversees a team of regional Student Ombudsmen whose mandate is to ensure that the rights of students and their parents are respected.
AAESQ and LCEEQ will collaborate in presenting a webinar with Me Bernier at which time he will provide an explanation of the law and the processes that now exist. His presentation, in French, will be followed by a question-and-answer period.
This is an excellent opportunity for both Board and in-school Administrators to have a better understanding of the process and the expectations made of them. Both have an important role to play when a complaint is lodged.
