Change is the Only Constant: Nurturing Reflection into Practice

February 6-7, 2023

The pandemic certainly has had an impact on all aspects of life – none more so that in education.  We have faced some very difficult times over the last two plus years, but we have also seen some silver linings in terms of what we have learned about ourselves as educators during that same period.

Last year our theme was: The Reflective Practitioner.  We took the time to think about our practices motivated by the ideals of what we must keep as sacred in our educational system as we move forward.  In doing so we also questioned ourselves about what  we need to reimagine, and possibly leave behind.  Our ultimate goal is always the same; to provide our students at all ages, pre-school through University and Adult Education with the best possibilities for their future.

Our fourteenth Conference has adapted the theme, Change is the Only Constant: Nurturing Reflection into Practice.  The intention is to continue to reflect but also to focus on putting into practice what we have learned.

Margaret Mead once stated, “A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has”.  There is evidence across the province of people doing just that! The Conference provides the opportunity to both share and celebrate these practices.

There are so many areas of interest that may be addressed:  innovation, wellbeing, collaborative practice, resilience, equity, reconciliation,  inclusion, teaching-learning, technology, authentic assessment, student-centered learning, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, life balance, competency, project-based learning, differentiation, engagement, mindset; student agency… and these just scratch the surface of possible topics that need  to be explored.

You have a great deal to offer educators across the province – this is the time for action. You are strongly encouraged to submit a presentation proposal. Join an exciting team of invited speakers including:

  • Andrew Schleider
  • Dwayne Matthews
  • Margaret Wheatley
  • Kevin Lamoureaux
  • Jean Clinton
  • Ai Zhang

Consideration will be given to individual and small groups of presenters. Please note that submissions deemed commercial will not be retained. If you are a member of a School Board/Association affiliated with LCEEQ it is important that you inform your organization of your interest to submit a proposal to participate as the Board/Association will be responsible for any financial support (e.g. release time…).

It cannot be said often enough…. You have a great deal to offer other educators across the province – this is the time to put your reflection into practice.
