The LCEEQ launched the Strategic Leadership Institute, an innovative initiative designed to empower school teams across various educational levels, from Elementary through Vocational Education, by providing direct instruction on Strategic Planning strategies.
In March, six dedicated school teams embarked on their journey by participating in two intensive training days. These sessions, led by Ainsley Rose and Megan Webster, focused on the essentials of strategic planning. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to school improvement. The residential model provided numerous opportunities for networking across the different school teams.
To ensure ongoing support and development, two webinars were held during the winter months. These sessions provided continuity in training and offered a platform for teams to deepen their understanding and application of strategic planning principles.
In addition, each school team received personalized on-site coaching support, helping them navigate the complexities of developing their school/centre plan. This hands-on guidance was instrumental in refining their approaches and fostering a collaborative spirit.
In late April, the teams reconvened for an in-person full-day workshop. This event allowed each team to share its journey and progress in developing their plan. Utilizing a carousel style format, the teams presented their reports, offering insights and inspiration to their peers. Given that there were multiple retellings of the journey, each team member was invited to make a presentation to encourage shared-leadership and commitment. Below are a couple of our teams.

The Strategic Leadership Institute is not a one-off event; the project will continue into the next academic year. This ongoing effort ensures that the teams can build on their achievements, further implement their strategies, and continue to develop meaningful plans moving forward.
Given that this is a pilot project, LCEEQ will be monitoring it closely with the intention of inviting more school teams to engage in the project in the future.
