PDIG Grants Successful in Supporting Projects Across the Province
The professional development and innovative grants provide opportunities for locally developed initiatives. The projects which have existed for many years have served the community well. The Spring is a time for new proposals for the coming school year while reports on projects that took place during the last several months are being received for review.

The Leadership for School Improvement Workshop Off to A Great Start
There are numerous signs that mark the arrival of Spring. For the last several years the annual Leadership for School Improvement Workshop has proven to be one of these in the realm of professional development. The Ministry of Education Appoints A New Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM)
LCEEQ is pleased to welcome Mr Steven Colpitts as Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for the English Community, Indigenous Education and Cultural Diversity. Currently the Director of Educational Services at the Lester B. Pearson School Board, he assumes his new responsibilities as of the end of May. As an ex-officio member of LCEEQ, we look forward to establishing a very positive working relationship in supporting Mr. Colpitts as he addresses the needs of the English-speaking Educational Community.

Our April Winner
Our latest winner, chosen at random for simply logging into her LCEEQ account in the month of April, is Sophie Lanthier, who teachers at Mountainview Elementary School, a part of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board. She teaches ELA in both a Grade 6 and 5/6 split. She emphatically states, “I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference! I absolutely love my job! Sometimes it feels like it is an extension of my family rather than a job. My most cherished moments have been the trips and activities that I have done with my students.
When I am at home, I love spending time with my family. They are my world and I cherish every day with them. I enjoy travelling with my two children and my husband. I also love taking walks with my daughter and our two dogs and just talking about anything and everything.”
Sophie received a one-hundred-dollar gift card from Chapter’s to add to her own reading pleasure, or to choose some good books for her daughters. Follow Sophie’s example by logging into your LCEEQ account on a regular basis and you could be the next winner. Each time you log in improves your chances to win.
