Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month

May is designated as the month to promote mental wellbeing. The Canadian Mental Health Association states, “Over the past several years, there has been a notable shift in awareness and acknowledgment of the significance of mental health in the workplace. Employers recognize that prioritizing mental health and creating a psychologically safe workplace is not just a matter of compassion; it’s a strategic investment in creating healthier, more productive, and sustainable work environments.”

What better way to start the month than to attend a celebratory webinar which focuses on Happiness? Dr. Gretchen Moran Marsh will animate a session entitled The Psychology of a Happy Life. Learn how you change the focus of your day, build happier habits, and change the way you think to live a happier life.

This webinar is appropriate for, and open to every educator across the province – feel free to invite family and friends who are looking to have a happy life. There is no registration fee for this event and details and registration information can be found here.

Know the Impact of Bill 96/ Law 14

student-writing

The implementation of Law 14 has had a direct impact on both admissions and course requirements in our English-speaking CEGEP Network. This is information you need to know, particularly if you are responsible for students considering entry into any of the CEGEP programmes.

John McMahon, Director General of Vanier College is living the reality of the legislation and has been a public voice both at the LCEEQ Table and in the media for what these changes mean now and in the future. LCEEQ in collaboration with AAESQ is offering a special one-hour webinar on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 1:30 PM with Mr. McMahon to review this important topic, correct many of the misunderstandings that are circulating in the educational community, and answer audience questions. This will be a well-invested hour of your time. Register here.

Culture and Citizenship in Quebec (CCQ)

student-writing

The Ministry of Education has mandated the implementation of the new CCQ Programme in all schools beginning in September 2024. The programme has been piloted in a number of schools in both the English and French Sectors for the past several years.

LCEEQ collaborated with The Directors of English Education Network (DEEN) in offering training webinars to both Elementary and Secondary teachers. Consultants from across the province responsible for the implementation of CCQ provided a day-long instruction in three designated time blocks: English-speaking Elementary (N= 210), French-speaking Elementary (N= 105), and Secondary (N=160). This was a massive undertaking in a limited time period. LCEEQ wishes to commend the participating Consultants in making this training possible. School Boards will continue to provide local support throughout the coming year.

For those who were unable to attend a webinar session or who would like to revisit one, recorded versions and accompanying materials may be found here.

QACVE Conference Coming in May
